We are enthusiastic about books – all books – and we help authors make all of their books available to their readers. Too many authors have out-of-contract books that their fans would love, but who are unable to find the time or inclination to publish those books themselves. That’s where we come in.
We are also now accepting a few first-run titles.
We are currently considering submissions for 2017 release. If you have a book you’d like us to look at, let us know here. We are primarily interested in fiction but will consider all submissions. No erotica, please.
When I had a conversation with my husband that ended with, “Okay, so we’ll start a publishing company,” we had the delightful task of giving it a name that made it real for us, and to remind us of what we love.
Okay, I love books, obviously, but I love other things too. And this new baby was a long-term commitment, so I wanted to call it something that made me smile every time I said it.
I’ve been in love with St Augustine, Florida, for as long as I can remember, and I spend a lot of time there. (Someday I’ll spend ALL my time there.) So, to have my own little piece of St Augustine wherever I am, I decided on Salt Run Publishing.
Salt Run is an actual place, an estuary that lies at the foot of the St Augustine Lighthouse tower. It’s a place where fresh and salt water meet, where new life begins and is supported by resources left by the life that went before.
This is exactly how an artist creates new work. The creative spirit is born in the first works, fed by subsequent works, and constantly renews itself in everything he or she does. Therefore, an author’s first titles are as important as current releases, because they brought that author to where he or she is today. As the backbone of an author’s success, backlist titles deserve the same attention and care of a first-run book, and at Salt Run Publishing, that’s what we do.
We want to see authors reap the benefits of their hard work. Books are the wonderful manifestations of the author’s spirit and love for the craft, and backlist titles are the reader’s opportunity to explore a new “favorite” author they’ve discovered from a first-run title. We want to readers to gobble up everything their favorite authors have written. By nurturing the backlist with the respect it deserves, we can help make that happen.
Submissions now being considered for 2017. If you’d like for us to take a look at a book or unpublished manuscript, let us know here.
