Lisa is a Texas girl who hails from a tiny West Texas town outside Lubbock, where the wind always blows across the plains. She was forced to move (under protest) to a slightly rural burg outside of Houston Texas where the wind is sluggish and heavy and does not speak of freedom and movement. She spent her formative years there and after a brief stint in college, followed the call of the winds as they blew her to distant lands far over the Western horizon.
Having effectively sown her wild oats and having had her fill of snow and ice, she left the Alaska shores she called home for many years and returned to Texas, where she and her family settled in another little town not too far from San Antonio.
Lisa has had a lifelong love affair with the written word. Though, as she did with her life, she used to take them all too seriously and typified the angsty tortured artist. Luckily, life happened and she lived, she paid attention and the desire to know her truth kept her seeking. She learned that her words, just as her life, flowed much better when she decided to merely play around with the infinite varieties and combinations available and let the letters fall where they may.
After decades of seeking, she came to understand that the joy truly is in the journey. And that wherever you go, there you are. Life, in all its glorious forms, is the journey, a soul's never-ending quest for what's beyond the next horizon, be that horizon actual or imagined, “out there” or “in here”.
A good journey is all that much better for the travelling companions you choose along the way, be they words or dwarven miniature horses. She's most at home when surrounded by her critters, of which there are many, great and small. Most of her companions are rescues of some nature, be they two legged or four and it does make life easier when they fit in the backseat of a pickup truck...
And so, after a series of what many might take for tragic events, though she prefers to see them only as life altering, she spends her days playing. Playing with words, playing with meaning, playing with her critters, playing with her people, playing with all the beautiful things in her world, as ever higher she flies amidst the winds of Life, playing with the infinite combinations that can unlock the mystery of soul.
